Considering resource beyond the graph of doom: Leaders' Forum
Explore a whole system view of how welfare and care is resourced beyond financial funding, and consider the wider economic benefits of welfarism at Leaders' Forum 2021. This year's session will be taking place in-person in Birmingham alongside an interactive online session.
The issue of resources for social care and wider welfare services has understandably been a consistent preoccupation over the last decade. The dominant focus has been on how to provide effective services in a time of diminishing resources and increasing demand, and colleagues across the sector will be familiar with the ‘graph of doom’ and similar evidence highlighting the funding gap. Less attention has been paid to the economic argument for social care and welfare services.
At this year’s Leaders’ Forum, we will explore a whole system view of how welfare and care is resourced beyond financial funding, and consider the wider economic benefits of welfarism. Examine what we mean by inclusive economic growth and the role of social care within this, as well as reviewing evidence from initiatives designed to unleash more community or social resource.
