Working effectively with men in families

Working effectively with men in families

Working effectively with men in families

Men often face challenges such as mental health, poverty, deprivation and stress but can feel ignored or excluded by services. Lack of effective attention and practice can lead to greater risk for children in their care, particularly if the child is exposed to one parent using violence against another.
Join an upcoming workshop that will equip practitioners with up-to-date evidence on the role of men in families. It will explore principles and approaches for building relationships with men, including young fathers and men who harm. Social care practitioners need to have a good understanding of effective ways of working with men in families where there are concerns about a child’s welfare or safety. They need to draw on men’s strengths, as well as potential risks to the child and family.
