Delivered online using Teams
12:00 - 13:00 Tuesday, 28 April 2026
Providing unpaid care can negatively the education, employment prospects, physical and mental health of young people. It is vital that support for young carers considers the whole family, addressing a range of relevant needs such as health, social care, finances, housing and education.
Join an open access webinar that will explore findings around what works well in facilitating whole family holistic assessments and support planning with young carers and their families.
In England, the Care Act and Children and Families Act make provision for young carers to have an assessment of their needs. Researchers at the Care Policy and Evaluation Centre, London School of Economics and Political Science, have gathered the views of practitioners, young carers, and the adults they care for to understand what approaches are taken, what works well and what gets in the way.
This session will share initial findings from the research, considering how these can be developed into recommendations for policy and practice for young carers, adults with care needs, and families.
