Join an open access webinar that will explore key messages from a new research briefing on the role of Adults' Services in supporting parents with a learning disability.
During the session, attendees will hear key messages from the NIHR-funded research. We will discuss implications for practice, legal proceedings and joint working between Adults’ and Children’s Services when supporting parents with learning disabilities and their children.
Facilitators, Beth Tarleton and Dr Gillian MacIntyre, will be drawing on their extensive practice experience of working with adults, children and their families.
Learning Outcomes
As a result of attending this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Understand key findings from the recently published research briefing Supporting Parents with a learning disability: the role of Adults' services.
- Explore how legal, policy and guidance (including the Care Act 2014, Child Act 1989, Equality Act 2010 and Good Practice guidance) apply in practice.
- Identify key insights from recent NIHR-funded research on the role of eligibility thresholds, consent to Care Act assessments, and access to advocacy.
- Identify opportunities for joint working across Adults’ and Children’s Services.
- Apply learning to practice by understanding what changes are needed to better support parents and their children.
