A preventative approach in social care is critical to supporting children and adults to lead the lives they want to live.

Helping people as early as possible can enable a strengths-based, person-centred approach that tackles the root cause of issues. This way of working is vital to ensuring a more sustainable and cost-effective system that reduces inequalities.

At the 2025 Research in Practice Leaders’ Forum, we explored what prevention means to different parts of our sector, and the role leaders play in enabling preventative way of working. A series of three new blogs share different perspectives from the conference. They explore key messages shared by speakers throughout the day, the importance of equitable prevention, and how learning from the conference is being applied in practice.
