Learning from case law for children's practitioners

Learning from case law for children's practitioners
Delivered online using Teams
12:00 - 13:00 Wednesday, 10 September 2025
Join an upcoming webinar that will explore how to use Case Law and Legal Summaries to support practice with children and families.
Our Case Law and Legal Summaries provide a detailed overview and analysis of selected cases, highlighting implications for children and young people's social care practice.
Focusing on key themes from recent judgments, this webinar will consider the current issues gaining judicial attention, and what this means for practitioners working with the family courts. Attendees will explore:
- The use of experts in care proceedings.
- Deprivation of liberty of children.
- Continuing care for children.
The session will also consider recent cases that have had further developments after earlier judgments, including defining a ‘child in need’, parents talking to the press about their cases, and the use of puberty blockers.
The webinar will be responsive to the emerging judgments which impact the sector. Recent key themes in recent judgments have included parents with learning difficulties, domestic violence and coercive control, and abuse and neglect.
Learning Outcomes
As a result of attending this session, participants will be able to:
