Join an open access workshop exploring how artificial intelligence (AI) is used by professionals working with children, delivered by Resonant Collaboration in partnership with Research in Practice. This session is aimed towards professionals working in education, police, youth justice, and early help.

Together, we will discuss how AI is currently used and could be used to enhance the experiences of children, young people, and families who access social care services. Rather than focusing solely on AI as a tool for professional efficiency, this project centres the question of impact: what does AI mean for the children, young people, and families at the heart of social care?

This online workshop is designed as a participatory inquiry, with the experience of children, young people, and families as the consistent anchor point. Participants will be invited to take up the position of co-investigators of practice, bringing what they notice in their everyday work, the texture of how things happen, and the questions that are rarely asked.

Activities will move between small-group and whole-room work, between making and reflecting, between the specific and the systemic, following a real case as it crosses agency lines. The discussions will contribute to a larger project exploring future visions of how AI is used in social care.

This event is part of a series of workshops. Over the summer, we heard from practitioners working within Children's Social Care, and directly from young people about their confidence in using AI and their awareness of its risks. This session is designed for professionals working alongside social workers, including police, health, youth justice, early help, and education. 

We want to explore how AI is used, restricted, or planned in your own work with children and families, and what happens to a child's information, voice, and consent as records move between agencies working under different rules.
